In 1973, the first Grandparents' Day was proclaimed in West Virginia by Governor Arch Moore. Later, in 1978, the United States Congress passed legislation, declaring the first Sunday after Labor Day as National Grandparents' Day.
On Monday, Gilmer County Elementary School's students, staff, and families celebrated with our Annual Grandparents' Day Celebration. A special thank you goes out to ALL of our grandparents and those who made the event happen.
