Mrs. Diane Montgomery Announced as Gilmer County Elementary School’s Service Personnel of the Year for 2025-26.
Known for her kindness and dedication, Mrs. Montgomery plays an important role in supporting young learners and helping create a school environment where students feel valued and encouraged.
Mrs. Montgomery currently serves as a preschool aide and has been in this role since the fall of 2020. Her experience working with children began years earlier through Head Start, Hands of Pride Daycare, and as a substitute aide before being hired full-time on October 10, 2010.
“For me, working with children is something I truly love,” Montgomery said. “I enjoy helping them learn, hearing their stories, and seeing them laugh and have a great time.”
Her passion for working with students has remained the driving force throughout her career.
“I just love what I do and the kids I work with,” she shared. “I enjoy meeting new children and their parents each year and making a difference in their lives.”
Mrs. Montgomery also credits her coworkers for making her work meaningful and enjoyable.
“I have wonderful teacher friends and coworkers who make coming to work fun,” she said.
A lifelong resident rooted in family and community, Montgomery is married to her husband, Frank, and the couple will celebrate 40 years of marriage this May. Together, they have three children—James, Chris, and Jessica—and three grandchildren: Sylvie, Damien, and Lauren. Outside of school, she enjoys gardening, riding horses, and being actively involved in her church.
Looking ahead, Montgomery remains dedicated to growing in her role and continuing to serve students.
“I would love to continue working with pre-k children as long as I am able,” she said. “I also want to keep learning and getting more training so I can better help the kids.”
As she continues her work at Gilmer County Elementary School, Montgomery’s dedication, kindness, and love for children make a lasting impact on the students and families she serves each day.
Gilmer County Schools proudly congratulates Mrs. Diane Montgomery on this well-deserved honor and thanks her for her dedication and positive impact at Gilmer County Elementary School. She will now represent GCES as she competes for Gilmer County Service Personnel of the year.
