Gilmer County students worked on short stories during the fall and winter months to submit for the WV Young Writer Contest. Short stories were first judged at the school level then the top 4-7 stories were submitted to determine overall county winners. County winners are listed below.
Grades 1-2 winner is Kaylee Smith with her story "The Life of My Horse."
Grades 3-4 winner is Cheryl Craig with her story "The Sleepover."
Grades 5-6 winner is Adlai Chapman with his story "The Dragonstone."
Grade 7-8 winner is Jenna Smith with her story "The Nutcracker."
Grade 9-10 winner is Austin Stewart with his story "A Halloween Horror Story-Nine Foot Tall."
Grade 11-12 winner is James Mohr with his story "Reflection. "
Winning stories will now be judged at the state level. State winners will be announced on May 13, 2022. Congratulations County Winners!!
