🩺 A Message from Nurse Whitney
National Poison Prevention Week is March 15–21, 2026.
This year, the West Virginia Poison Center is highlighting the theme “Little Hands, Big Curiosities.” Children are naturally curious, and everyday items such as medications, cleaning products, cosmetics, and even plants can pose a poisoning risk.
Many poisonings are preventable. Families and school staff can play an important role by helping children learn safe habits and understand which items are not safe to touch or consume.
We encourage families to take a moment to review poison prevention tips and helpful resources provided by the West Virginia Poison Center.
Together, we can help keep our students safe! 💙 #GoGilmer #LoveMyWVSchool

During Read Across America Week, members of the GCHS Student Council visited Gilmer County Elementary School to participate in a Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) activity. 📚
Council members spent time in classrooms reading aloud to students, asking questions, and sharing conversations about the stories. It was a great opportunity for our high school students to demonstrate leadership while encouraging a love of reading with our younger Wildcats.
We appreciate the collaboration between our county schools that helps create meaningful learning experiences for students of all ages.
Great job, Titans! ❤️💙📖
