🧡 Unity Day at GCES! 🧡
On October 21, Gilmer County Elementary School came together to celebrate Unity Day and spread an important message of kindness, acceptance, and bullying prevention!
Our Wildcats and staff wore orange to show their support for a safe and welcoming school. Students created colorful leaves with positive messages for our Unity Tree, designed posters promoting kindness and inclusion, and joined together for a school-wide Unity Walk! 🧡🐾
Each orange shirt, colorful leaf, and thoughtful poster served as a reminder that we are stronger when we stand together and treat one another with kindness and respect.
A big thank you to our students and staff for making Unity Day such a meaningful celebration! 🧡

Mrs. Frashure's 5th grade math classes put a fun twist on an old-fashioned cake walk! 🕺💃 As Halloween music played, students danced their way around the room until the music stopped. Then it was time to put their math skills to the test! 🧠✏️
Students solved problems to review the skills they’ve been working hard to master. Once the answers were revealed, the student standing on the correct answer won a delicious Little Debbie cake! 🧁🎉
Who says math can’t be fun? Mrs. Frashure's students were learning, laughing, and celebrating their hard work—one math problem and one sweet treat at a time! 👻🧡#GoGilmer

Mrs. Sprouse and Mrs. Shelia’s 2nd grade science classes have been learning all about engineering and the design process! Our young engineers put their creativity and problem-solving skills to work as they designed and built their very own haunted houses using a variety of materials! 🎃

GCES Wildcat Families are invited to Math Family Night: Nachos and Numeracy on Thursday, November 12th, 4pm-5:30pm. The event will be hosted in the GCES Cafeteria with 4-5 math stations for families to engage in math activities. Reservation forms will come home with your child today, preschool through 5th grade. Please complete and submit your reservation form, one per family, if you plan to attend. This will help us to have enough supplies. This event is sponsored by GC Family Resource Network, Save the Children and Title I, as well as numerous community partners. Come and join the fun as we work with math on November 12th.
A big thank-you to the students and teachers from Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center and SkillsUSA for spending the day helping clean up the GCES High Tunnel! Volunteers pulled weeds, organized materials, cleaned work areas, and helped with general maintenance.
Their hard work is helping us restore this space for hands-on learning. We’re grateful for their service, teamwork, and support of our students! 🌱💚🌻
