The bus routes for the 2024-25 school year are now available. Please take a moment to review the routes to ensure you have the most up-to-date information on pick-up and drop-off times for your children. We appreciate your support as we prepare for a successful school year!

Our Save the Children's SummerBoost Camp has come to a fantastic end, and what an incredible journey it has been! πβ¨ Our kiddos had a blast, making new friends, exploring exciting activities, and learning so much along the way. From creative arts and sports to STEAM experiments, cooking, and reading adventures, every moment was filled with fun and discovery. ππ¨β½π¬

Gilmer County Family Support Center is sponsoring a SafeSplash Day at Cedar Creek State Park on Saturday, July 27th. This event includes activities for the family, from noon to 4pm at the Apple Shelter. We hope to see you there!

Birth Start will be taking place at Gilmer County Elementary School during the 2024-2025 school year. Please see the attached flyer for more information. We hope to see you and your little one at these monthly school readiness events.
ATTENTION: Parents/Guardians of Summer School Students....As a reminder the buses will be running ONE HOUR LATER on Friday, July 12th for our Kindergarten through 12th graders. Therefore if your child has been catching the bus at 7:20am, they will catch the bus at 8:20am. This will allow our students to swim at the Lewis County Park on Friday, July 12th. Buses will transport students home one hour later on Friday, July 12th, with dismissal from the schools at 3pm. Thank you.
This week, our SummerBoost students had a blast exploring STEM centers, creating cards, and engaging in storytelling!
Summer Bus DELAYED: Parents/Guardians of students that are riding Summer Bus #81, Students will be delayed this afternoon coming home. Please be aware that the bus will be running a few minutes late on Mineral Road, Kanawha Drive, Tanner, Troy and Rt 33. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Gilmer County Elementary SummerBoost had an amazing day at the WV Folk Festival! Huge thanks to all the volunteers who showed our students a fantastic time and helped create unforgettable memories. #GoGilmer

πLast week, GCES proudly hosted Save the Children's KinderBoost program! This wonderful initiative helps prepare our little ones for their first day of kindergarten, ensuring they start school curious, excited, and ready to learn!
Summer programs are beginning in Gilmer County next week, Monday, June 17th. Please find attached the summer menu and bus schedules. πβ¨ On May 20th, GCES's 3rd graders battled in their very own Lemonade Wars! Each team was in charge of decorating and putting their special touch on their lemonade stand, showcasing incredible creativity and teamwork. We are so proud of each and every one of our students.
The 3rd grade class, along with Mrs. Fox, Mrs. Hartshorn, and Mrs. Short, would like to thank everyone who came out and supported these young entrepreneurs. A special thank you to our neighbors at Glenville Health and Rehabilitation for being our first customers, and to the parents for helping support this endeavor.

1st Place: The Lemonade Slayers (Paisley Armstrong, Ryann Hartshorn, Raegan Hartshorn, Robert Moneypenny, and Tristan Williams)
2nd Place: The Dolphins (Rayden Tomblin, Josephine Moore, Madison Moyers, Kenton Minney, and Easton Hickman)
3rd Place: Space Lemonade (Presley Darby, Brock Curtis, Vanesa Vega Navarro, Brooklyn Marks, and Catelin Dean)
The funds raised have been designated to support sending these students on future field trips.

Weβre excited to announce the winners of our attendance drawing for Gilmer County Elementary! Students who had excellent attendance (missing 5 days or less) for the 2023-2024 school year were entered into a special drawing. A huge thank you to Calhoun Banks for their generous donation of two scooters as prizes to encourage and reward good attendance.
