The GCES PTO is thrilled to invite you to Take a Little Peak: Winter Square Dance & Clinic on January 16th at the Gilmer County BOE Office Gym.
Join us as the doors open at 6 PM, with the dance starting at 7 PM. Enjoy the lively tunes of The Great Fiddlin’ Bobby Taylor and Friends, and let Tony Minney guide you through the dance steps with expert instruction, suitable for all levels!
Admission is only $5.00 or by donation. There will be exciting prizes including a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, and a cake walk—don’t miss out on the fun! This event is sponsored by the GCES PTO, JAM, and WVSFF.

Be sure to check your child's folder/backpack. The Holiday Luncheon Reservation Form was returned to families today. This will allow you to "double check" the time of your reservation on the form and who has a reservation to attend. The oldest sibling on the form should have brought that home this afternoon. What an amazing time our GCES students had at the GSU Girls Basketball game! They brought nonstop energy, cheering their hearts out the entire game, and it paid off as the girls clinched the WIN! 👏 🏀

JAM (Junior Appalachian Musicians) is an exciting program dedicated to preserving the rich cultural heritage of central West Virginia through music and dance. By learning string instruments and the art of playing by ear, students immerse themselves in the traditional tunes of Appalachia, honing their skills while connecting with a vibrant legacy. The program also offers opportunities to learn from Master Class Artists, fostering growth and appreciation for the region's musical traditions.
GCES recently hosted a JAM presentation for 4th and 5th-grade students, introducing them to this enriching experience and celebrating the beauty of Appalachian music and dance. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the talented musicians who graciously shared their time and expertise, inspiring our students with their passion and skill.
